C2C Mobile/Glasses case

If you want a quick evening project then one of these pouches can be completed in under a couple of hours.  Comfortably sized to hold a pair of glasses, these will also hold an iphone 11, with case perfectly.  If you want a larger case either go up a yarn weight and hook size or make your initial C2C rectangle larger.  These have been finished with a lobster clasp to clip inside your handbag or to your belt loop or even a lanyard.  I haven’t added instructions here, but it would also be super easy to add a shoulder strap.

C2C crochet is a super fun technique to have in your crochet repertoire.  This pattern assumes that you know how to work the technique already.  If C2C is new to you then get yourself onto YouTube, where you can find lots of excellent video tutorials on how to master this easy, and rather addictive stitch.

This pattern is written in US Crochet Terminology and uses standard Crochet Abbreviations.

I made my pouches with Scheepjes soft fun dk yarn and a 4mm hook.

You will also need a lobster clasp, darning needle and scissors.

Description

Begin by making 2 c2c rectangles, 4 blocks by 9 blocks.

  • Join yarn in a corner and *work 3ch, sl st in next space, rep from * all the way around the rectangle finishing in the same space you started.
  • Fasten off and repeat with the 2nd rectangle.
  • Place front and back together with the wrong sides together and the front facing you.
  • Join yarn into the top left ch sp & ch1, catching both front and back together.
  • *Work 3 sc in each ch space; rep from * around all 3 sides joining the pouch together.  At the bottom corners add 2 ch for definition.
  • When you get to the top of the right side ch1, and then work 3sc in the next ch sp on the front.  Continue working around the top edge of your pouch as established – at the join between front and back work an extra sc in the top of the side ch loop of the front, ch1, then work an extra sc in the top of the side ch loop on the back before carrying on working the 3scs as established.
  • Work the edge at the other side in the same way, then join to the 1st sc with a sl st.  Fasten off and leave enough yarn to sew on your lobster catch.
  • Sew your lobster catch on securely and then sew in all ends.
