You will need –
Dk yarn – I used James C Brett Cotton On in Cream
1.5 cm felt balls
4 mm crochet hook
Sewing needle and thread
These instructions use US crochet terms and standard crochet abbreviations.
Chain 8 & join into a circle.
Ch 3 (counts as 1st dc), 19 dc into circle. Join with a sl st to top of ch 3. (20 sts)
*(Ch 3 (counts as dc), ch 2, dc) in 1st st, (dc, hdc) in next st, sc, ch 1, sc, (hdc, dc) in next st; rep from * around 3 times more substituting dc for 1st ch 3.
Join to top of ch 3 with a sl st. Fasten off.
A felt ball should fit into the centre hole quite snugly, and to keep it secure take a needle and sewing thread and join to the outer hole.
Doing a kind of mattress stitch take alternate stitches through the felt ball and outer ring all around the ball. Fasten off securely. The stitches should be invisible. Join to make a bag, or cushion or even perhaps a scarf!
